Ekiti Guber: Deputy Speaker, Kalu Hails Oyebanji’s Re-Election
Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, on Monday, congratulated Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, on his re-election, describing him as a “jinx breaker” for securing consecutive terms since the state was created.
In a statement by Levinus Nwabughiogu, Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Speaker, Kalu said the governor’s victory reflected the collective will of Ekiti people for continuity and better service delivery.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Oyebanji the winner of Saturday’s governorship election.
He defeated candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In his congratulatory message, the Deputy Speaker noted that the outcome showed President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda was resonating at the grassroots and impacting lives.
He urged Oyebanji to deepen the delivery of democracy dividends by expanding job opportunities for youths, improving healthcare access, building stronger roads, and providing quality education for every child across the state.
Kalu also commended Ekiti residents for their large turnout and peaceful conduct during the poll, and for voting overwhelmingly for the All Progressives Congress. He urged them to repeat the feat in the forthcoming general election for President Tinubu and other APC candidates.
“Ekiti has shown the way. This mandate is about continuity, stability, and results. I urge the governor to sustain the momentum,” Kalu stated.
