Group Questions Gov AbdulRazaq Over City Boy Movement’s Cancelled Inauguration
…Seeks clarity as Door-to-Door Movement plans state inauguration
A political support group, Progressive Youth for Asiwaju 2027, has questioned Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq over the cancellation of the proposed inauguration of the City Boy Movement in the state, alleging inconsistencies in the coordination of political groups supporting President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.
The group raised concerns following plans by the Door-to-Door Movement, founded by High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, to inaugurate its Kwara State structure on October 19, 2026.
In a statement signed by its spokesperson, Bar. Ojo Adebayo, the group expressed concern that no new date had been announced for the City Boy Movement’s inauguration, while another pro-Tinubu political movement was proceeding with its planned state launch.
It questioned whether the development was a result of administrative considerations, competing political interests or disagreements over the coordination of support groups working towards Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
The group also raised concerns about the alleged support for the Door-to-Door Movement’s inauguration, linking the development to political considerations surrounding the governor’s preferred successor, Rt. Hon. Engr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu.
It, however, called for clarification from the governor, insisting that all groups committed to Tinubu’s re-election should be treated fairly.
“These developments raise growing concerns that Governor AbdulRazaq’s actions may be at odds with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ideology, vision and re-election initiatives,” the statement said.
Progressive Youth for Asiwaju 2027 argued that the President’s re-election project required a united and coordinated support structure across Kwara State, warning that conflicting signals and unresolved grievances among support groups could undermine collective efforts.
The group maintained that no genuine support movement should be unfairly disadvantaged, urging political leaders in the state to ensure fairness, transparency and consistency in managing activities linked to Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu deserves a united and coordinated support structure in Kwara State—not avoidable divisions, conflicting signals or unresolved grievances among groups committed to his 2027 re-election,” it added.
The group further urged stakeholders to address the concerns surrounding the cancelled inauguration, stressing that Kwara State could not afford political contradictions capable of weakening support for the President ahead of the 2027 general elections.
